About Us
The New York Counseling Service originated in Lower Westchester County, NY and now has offices throughout
the New York Metropolitan Area including Manhattan, Central and Northern New Jersey.
Referrals are made only to professionally trained senior psychotherapists
and social psychologists. Participating therapists are members of
one of three mental health disciplines - Clinical Social Work,
Psychiatry, or Psychology - and all have extensive specialized training
and experience in the application of psychotherapy to emotional,
behavioral and relational problems. Therapist
referrals may recommend one-on-one counseling or group therapy /
counseling.
The Service does not make referrals to managed care providers thus assuring a competent, appropriate and
confidential approach to treatment. Upon occasion, in order to better match client and therapist, a referral
may be made to a professional outside the Service. In the event this is done the therapist receiving the
referral will have the same qualifications and experience that Service members have.
