Bertrum Weinbleatt, PhD
New York State Licensed Psychologist, Ph.D., New York University - 1959. Postdoctoral training in
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy and Supervision of the Psychotherapeutic Process. Formerly
Faculty - Postdoctoral Program - Graduate Psychology, Derner Institute, Adelphi University.
Located in Manhattan, Dr. Weinblatt has over 40 years experience in the field of individual and group
psychotherapy including in-patient hospital experience in physical medicine and in rehabilitation services.
He specializes in developing and conducting mixed gender groups, men's groups and groups for the elderly.
Having had past experience with prostate cancer, he currently devotes a substantial amount of time to
organizing and conducting 12-week, time-limited support groups for men in various stages of prostate cancer.
The purpose and thrust of the prostate cancer groups are to help participants discuss their thoughts and
feelings about their condition in an understanding, supportive environment. Each individual's circumstances
have implications in many areas of his life: work, relationships, family, and obviously, personally. It
takes a safe context to do this.
In addition, Dr. Weinblatt conducts private supervision of the psychotherapeutic process and is available
for private consultation for psychotherapists for both group and individual issues.
Dr. Weinblatt is also a Medicare provider for individual and group psychotherapy.
"The therapeutic space must provide the latitude and comfort for the client to express what is in her/his
mind and heart without concern or fear of judgment. Growth and change is an inherent capacity of the human
condition."
