Janet Baumann, CSW, BCD
Janet Baumann has been practicing psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in New York City for more than 25 years.
She received her M.S.W. from Jane Adams School of Social Work in Chicago, Illinois and completed her
psychoanalytic training at Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York City.
Ms. Baumann has been specializing in eating disorders since 1983 and treating substance abusers since 1971.
She conducts therapy groups for people with eating disorders as well as psychodynamic groups dealing with
interpersonal relationships. She has given numerous presentations and workshops on the treatment of eating
disorders. In addition, Ms. Baumann runs groups for people suffering from bereavement.
Ms. Baumann is a part-time faculty member at NYU Shirley M. Ehrenkranz School of Social Work; a consultant at
Mt. Sinai Hospital, the Narcotics Rehabilitation Center; Director, the Group Therapy Training Program,
Postgraduate Center for Mental Health; and faculty and supervisor at Blanton Peale Institutes for Religion and
Health. Ms. Baumann is a past-president of Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society.
